Every M72 film has a director whose name is on it. Most came through Dirty Monkey Pictures' 72 Transformations program; some work almost entirely in AI, some never touch it, and a few do both.

Founder · director · executive producer
Director of Crazy Stone, Crazy Racer and Crazy Alien, and founder of Dirty Monkey Pictures. Runs the 72 Transformations program that launched Wen Muye (Dying to Survive), Lu Yang (Brotherhood of Blades II) and Shen Ao (No More Bets). At M72 he executive-produces and directs the occasional brand film.

Director · animation and hybrid
Hand-drawn warmth in a cold future. Directed T-MAN & Truble, the corgi-and-robot film in Human Future Rhapsody, and the music video Stella, cutting live action, AI and 2D animation into one piece.

Director · photoreal and stop-motion
Two ends of the craft: A Slice of Eternity, a photoreal space-station thriller that turns out to be an AI's 139th simulation, and Balabu's Wish, a clay stop-motion fable for BMW about an alien who buys a car.

Director · stylised sci-fi
Directed Toy, the Rhapsody film about a boy who wants a robot and gets his father back, and The Monkey for BMW AHEAD — a graphic-novel-textured hunt for the origin of joy.

Director · live action
Feature director (Are You Lonesome Tonight?, Land of Broken Hearts) from the 72 Transformations program. For M72: Unknown Animal in the BMW AHEAD series, and executive producer on TCL's film with Zhu Zhu.

Director · AI shorts
72 Transformations director working almost entirely in AI: The Great Dream, a black-and-white wuxia-and-writer's-block piece made with Jimeng, and Signal, a Cold-War spy story set on a dying planet.

Director · AI shorts
Writer, director and AI lead on Homeward, a twelve-minute film that keeps one plush robot consistent through rain, mud and a city at rush hour.

Writer-director · comedy and series
Wrote and directed Immortal Lease, the Bilibili series in which two gods have to make rent, and the spin-off from Once Upon a Time in the Middle East.

Director · live action
Directed New Year Express for Honor of Kings and Xinhua, and co-directed the feature Hutong Cowboy with Ning Hao.
